In May, we deployed 750 purifiers to 375 households near Jacmel, Haiti. Three field staff from our partner organization were tasked with follow-up visits to households over the next several months. The Smart Solar Purifier let the field staff download and view this usage data at each of these visits, informing their conversations and iterative improvements to training.

In the map below, you can see all of the GPS locations where usage data was captured from Smart Solar Purifiers as part of this pilot. Following hurricane Matthew, we don’t expect any more usage data to be collected; the good news is that our partner there is glad the community went into this disaster prepared with training on water disinfection.

Here is a map of all the locations where purifier usage was captured in Haiti.

We are thrilled at having this first at-scale validation of our data capture tools, and so are our field partners. What you see here is just the tip of the iceberg; in coming blog posts, we’ll dive into the data and share the trends and insights we’ve seen. Stay tuned!
